Lost Dreams by Ansley

Lost Dreams

Iridescent, multicolored, meandering,

Gone at the first touch of day.

Bright, wonderful, wandering,

Swirls of wings flit away.

Radiant, shining, shimmering,

Their true nature unconceived,

Forgotten, undiscovered, unbelieved…

Indecisive

Are you ready? Are you prepared? Are you? For real?

Am I ready? Am I prepared? Am I? For real?

Really?

Do I trust myself too much?

Do I not trust myself enough?

What will happen if I try?

What will happen if I don’t?

What if I’m wrong?

What if I’m right?

Yes or no?

Wrong or right?

Can I do this?

Will I do this?

Yes?

I remember

I remember a brown house with a big yard

I remember three flights of stairs

I remember the crabapple tree, the chain link fence, the driveway

I remember my room, my house, my city

I remember we moved

Yellow

Yellow, the first ray of light from the sun

Yellow, the buttercups that blanket the field

Yellow, the warm friendly eyes of a cat

Yellow, the cheerful songbirds that flit overhead

Yellow, bright, blazing, burning, wonderful yellow

Steps

Footfalls

On the concrete, wood, or carpet

Of the stairs

The sound of someone climbing higher

Or going back down

Traveling toward you

Or away

Ambling

Or hurrying

One step at a time

What might I Find in the World of my Mind

Don’t ask me if I mind

You throw me out into the world

Don’t tell me what I’ll find

Don’t keep me from the world

I don’t know what I’ll find

Don’t leave me in my mind

I fear what I may find

Deep within my mind

If thrown into the wide open world
